the first thing i have to say is i absolutely LOVE your blog! i can relate to everything! the second thing is that i just got a new CO helmet (gr8) and i had to get the biggest size because i have insanely curly hair :/ but after i ride, i get headaches. its really weird because i have enough room in it. is this normal, and is it just because it's new? i already cut the tags off, but i figure i can always sell it on ebay. the problem is theres no other companies that make a size 8. :///

I got headaches when I first got my CO skull cap as well. It’s common and usually happens for a little while until the molding/foam starts to shape to your head size/shape. Don’t worry- It won’t hurt for much longer. Enjoy your new helmet! x

Hi! I loove your blog. It's already become the definition of my life, even though I've only been riding for a few months! I've got a question that you can probably answer - my barn is having a show (it's just our barn, no one else) and it's open to all riders. I can walk, trot, canter, and jump and I feel confident doing that, and part of me wants to enter, but the other part thinks I'll totally mess up! Do you think I should enter or just watch this time?

I think you should ride in it! If it’s at your barn, chances are it’s a schooling type show and it’s designed for everyone at your barn to get experience showing. Even if you mess up something you will learn from it… shows and schoolings are all about gaining experience! Good luck!! x

I do! I have a chestnut Thoroughbred named Winston who’s now 9 years old and came from an OTTB adoption place called “Second Stride.” We event and compete in little combined tests and things. Thanks! x

@Anon- Thank you! I wear paddock boots everyday just because they’re cheaper and easier to maintain on a day-to-day basis. That being said, I do have tall boots for showing. I just outgrew them and am on the search for a new pair. Does anyone have any suggestions?

@Anon- Horses have a sort of sixth sense for fear and trust. Start from the ground this weekend and make sure you both are trusting each other with everything you do. Then, if you’re comfortable and the weather permits, ride with another horse person (Preferably your instructor) watching you. You and your instructor will be able to figure out best what is the line of safe vs unsafe. Every horse is different, make sure you take that into consideration, and don’t do anything that makes you or the horse uncomfortable. Thanks!

@Anon- Don’t feel behind! There are so many other riders in the same boat you are. Every one moves at their own pace… I’ve been competing Beginner Novice and Novice foreeeeverrr because my horse just doesn’t move at the pace the other event horses do. Have fun no matter the level you’re at, and remember that no matter what height, “You’re pointing a thousand+ pound animal with a mind of it’s own at an object and hoping it goes well.”
